COLORADO MIDLAND LOCKS
& KEYS
Brass cast square 6 lever.
Brass
cast with slots on the end and on the door cover. This slot allowed a boxcar seal to
be slid through so it was "double" locked. Used for high grade ore
shipments.
Brass cast C.M.RY. made by Post.
Brass cast C.M.R.Y. A&W
Brass cast switch cut. A&W
Stamped on the front in the shackle, CMRR.
Santa Fe System brass cast lock. Made by Fraim. Upon close inspection, the
"Santa Fe" was blocked out by the manufacture, so the assumption is the Colorado
Midland ordered new locks after they voted out the ATSF ownership. To save time,
Fraim blocked out the "Santa Fe" to get a shipment of locks to the CM quick.
There are locks with the Santa Fe cast into them with CMRR stamped into the
shackle, as well as MTRY.
CMRY switch lock made by Post.
Probably the earliest lock used by the CM, predating the cast locks.
CMRR made
by Union Brass Mfg Co., Chicago. Switch cut. Very early CM lock.
Brass stamped CMRR made by Slaymaker Berry.
These locks are numbered, with the same key cuts as the ATSF S.B. locks and keys.
This is the number "7" lock, the highest number I have seen to date.
Stamped C M RY in the shackle, made by Adlake with a
patent date of 1912. Switch cut.
Early choke barrel type CMRY switch cut.
Normal switch cut key. A&W in the football
logo on the reverse.
